Shan Nicholson

Shan Nicholson is an award-winning filmmaker, music producer, and pop culture and counterculture storyteller. Nicholson’s debut into filmmaking came with his feature-lengthdocumentary Downtown Calling, a study of the evolution of New York City’s fertile musicand art subculture during the late 70s early 80s, which garnered awards in numerous filmfestivals. In 2015, Nicholson’s second feature-length documentary, Rubble Kings, anexploration of 1970s gang culture in New York City, featured never before seen archiveand groundbreaking animation. Released both nationally and internationally, the filmreceived wide critical acclaim, most notably as a New York Times’ Critics Pick, making itsway to Netflix’s most popular list. In 2017, Nicholson partnered with Stephen DavidEntertainment as showrunner and director for docuseries “Sugar Town.”The followingyear, Nicholson partnered with executive producer Leonardo DiCaprio, Sundance TV andStephen David Entertainment as showrunner and director for “JONESTOWN: Terror InThe Jungle,” a four part docuseries, which broke ratings records and was nominated fortwo Realscreen Awards. In 2020, Nicholson partnered with Blackfin Entertainment andCNN Originals and served as showrunner and executive producer for “JERUSALEM: CityOf Faith And Fury,” a six part docu-drama that told the story of the most controversial cityin world and the six epic conflicts throughout history that defined it, using groundbreakinghigh-end cinematic recreation and cutting edge visual effects
